Emergency Electrician in Jenkintown & Greater Philadelphia

When to Call an Emergency Electrician

Some electrical problems can wait for a scheduled visit. Others are a fire or shock risk and need attention right away. Call immediately if you notice a burning smell, smoke or scorch marks around an outlet or panel; sparking, buzzing, or outlets that are hot to the touch; exposed or arcing wiring; a breaker that trips repeatedly and won’t reset; a total loss of power that isn’t a utility-wide outage; or water contact with wiring after a leak or flood.

If you’re seeing any of these, stop using the affected circuit and call us. Wescott Electrical responds fast to make it safe.

We used Danny for a wide variety of jobs after we purchased our home in Malvern. Danny installed new recessed lighting, ran new electrical for our cooktop, fixed and installed new outlets / switches, and even installed our smart doorbell all for a great price! Danny was great in getting out to us in a quick turnaround to run new electrical for our cooktop before the appliance company delivered it so we could use it in time for the holidays. We’ve had no issues with any of the work Danny has done, he always showed up on time and left the area he worked in clean. We always tell our friends if they need an electrician to call Danny!!

Wescott electrical is a throw back to an era when there was a local company that was great at what they do and cared about their community. After our first project we were impressed with the work, the fairness and transparency of their quote and by their ability to balance professionalism with a personable and kind demeanor. We have continued to use them whenever the need arises. Their work is clean and quick. They care about what the job and their clients. And it’s wonderful that they’re even great with our little one, who is fascinated by the work they’re doing. We couldn’t recommend them more.

Wescott Electrical is the best electrician I have used in over 40 years of owning properties in our area. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and fairly priced. As opposed to larger “mill” operations, you get personal attention, better prices, and better work. They wont try to talk you into things you really don’t need. I had them handle our rehab project in Ambler and they did a great job at a great price. As a former electrical engineer, I know quality work when I see it – and that is what Wescott Electrical gave me. Highly recommended!

FAQs

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Any situation with a fire or shock risk: burning smells, smoke or scorch marks, sparking or hot outlets, exposed or arcing wiring, repeated breaker trips that won’t reset, sudden loss of power that isn’t a utility outage, or water contact with your electrical system. When in doubt, stop using the circuit and call.

My breaker keeps tripping — is that an emergency?

A breaker that trips once may just be an overloaded circuit. But one that trips repeatedly and won’t reset, or trips along with a burning smell or warm panel, signals a real fault that needs a licensed electrician right away.

What should I do while I wait for the electrician?

If it’s safe to do so, stop using the affected outlets or circuit and switch off the relevant breaker. If you smell burning or see smoke at the panel, or there’s water on the electrical system, keep clear and call us — and call 911 if there’s any sign of fire.

Do you handle emergencies for businesses too?

Yes. We respond to commercial power failures, tripping breakers and code hazards to get your business safely back up and running.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Wescott Electrical is fully licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. Every emergency repair is done to code.
